High summer is when the coast is most alive — and when a crewed yacht earns its keep. The port fills, Pampelonne's beach clubs are booked, the quays are busy until late; from the water, all of it is a choice rather than a crowd. Our journal sets out the season month by month; this page is about the practical side of July and August.
The port's peak season
The Port de Saint-Tropez prices visiting berths by season; its published 2026 grid names 10 July to 20 August as "très haute saison", the top daily rate. Either side of it — 30 April to 10 July and 20 August to 4 October — is high season, at a lower rate. The figures below come straight from the port's grid; the charter itself is on quote.
Reading the weather
The Mistral, the dry north-westerly, can build quickly even in summer; a skipper who reads the local conditions chooses the sheltered anchorage for the day. Outside Mistral days the Gulf is gentle, with light sea breezes and sheltered water on almost every point of the coast.
Pampelonne
Just around the headland, off Ramatuelle — minutes by sea. The classic summer day: anchor off the beach, a tender ashore to the club you have booked, or lunch on board with the crew, and back to the port or a quiet bay for the evening.
